Types

When setting up a new destination, there are a variety of destination types to choose from depending on the requirements and use case.

Dynamic

Dynamic destinations are tailored towards experiences where the data are to be available in a real time API but the number of users, and thus the amount of requests, are known and moderate. This destination type is always protected, and one consumer is allowed. Usual use cases are campaign apps, widgets, or apps for internal and employee usage.

Multi-consumer

Multi-consumer destinations are tailored towards experiences where the data are to be available in a generic real time API. This destination type is optionally protected and three consumers are included by default, but the possibility to add extra consumers exist as well. Example use cases include a generic APIs consumed by multiple internal applications.

Static

Static destinations are optimized for machine-to-machine workloads, where there is a need to continuously push unified data to another system or service. Static destinations are commonly paired with a formatter. The destination type is always protected, and one consumer is allowed. Example of common use cases are marketplace integrations and data feeds.

Enterprise

Enterprise destination is the type to use for the most demanding cases, where there is a need to create a high availability API that is to be used in a high traffic context. The type is the only one where data can be distributed to different edge location to secure high availability across several regions. Three regions are included by default. Example usages are APIs that are used as an integral part of a digital experience such as a eCommerce solution or a purpose built application.
